Engineers and Technical Professionals

Dear Santa:

I know you're very busy right now as the Christmas season is in full swing and your big night is around the corner. However, it occurs to me that now might be the perfect time to approach you with this contact. Although your job has you busy 24/7 right now, it's pretty apparent that, come December 26th, your workload will significantly decrease. Have you considered that, with the economy being what it is, you may be facing a layoff after the holiday season? After all, employers don't typically keep folks around when they can't add value to the organization. Perhaps I'm dense here, but what value does Santa add in the other eleven months?!

It seems that you might benefit from the advice of a good career consultant like myself. In between supervising the elves, feeding the reindeer, and wrapping presents, you might consider dusting off the latest version of your resume and perhaps fine-tuning it in preparation for the hiring rush that invariably comes in early January!

Don't forget to add your soft skills as you've got very strong people skills and your interpersonal communications are excellent as well. After all, you interact with people of all ages and nationalities. You're obviously willing to travel as needed, you can carry heavy weights, you're open to working shifts or odd hours, and I'm sure there's more!

There are lots of wonderful opportunities out there and I'd be happy to talk with you at length about how your experience could transfer to other industries. Additionally if you would like assistance in preparing your resume, I can help you with that as well. I look forward to hearing from you soon and wish you and yours all the best for the holiday season!
