Engineers and Technical Professionals

At a conference in Texas I attended recently as representative of our national professional association, one of the keynote speakers shared an interesting parable that I thought was inspiring and thought-provoking, and I'd like to share it with you:

The angels sat on high and discussed where to plant the "seeds of greatness" for mankind. One angel suggested that they plant the seeds on top of the highest mountain. "Surely only a select few will find them there." But the other angels didn't agree. The second angel suggested that they plant the seeds at the bottom of the deepest ocean. "Surely only a select few will find them there." But again the others didn't agree. Finally, the third angel said "Let's plant the seeds of greatness within each and every person, and only the select few will find them there." The others quickly agreed.

So I ask each of you.... have you found the seeds of greatness sown within each one of you? Are you making decisions that will move your careers and your lives forward or are you letting things "just happen" and living the consequences?
